This newsletter is late, I know :( I’ve dropped a lot of balls lately. I quit my job, packed a suitcase, got on a bus and have been helping out my best friend. That’s the plan for the next month, too. The next few newsletters may also be late as I am prioritizing my BFF above everything else.
Did you see the AMAZING cover that Merilliza Chan illustrated for BIRTHING ORION? There was an exclusive cover reveal on LGBTQreads
I have been sitting on this for a few months waiting for the cover reveal and I am so glad I can finally share this with everyone! I am SO happy with the cover and I cannot wait to buy a beautiful print of it and hang it in my living room. I am so excited to share the poetry chapbook with everyone in October!
I will be having e-ARCs going out soon! If you are a reviewer / blogger, please stay tuned!
My next project to be released is AFTER IMAGES and I am currently working on that. It’s three short stories that take place in a world I’ve been building for about a year now. The titular short story is ready to go, and now it’s on to writing the other two and editing them. Merilliza Chan is illustrating the cover for this, too! I’ve been dying to share AFTER IMAGES with y’all. It’s a deeply personal story of disability, gender, and self-discovery. Also a unicorn-people who are SO better than McCaffrey’s in my opinion.
The world explored in these short stories will be laying the groundwork for a trilogoy I am working on!
It’s been more like am re-reading. I re-read all of the WRATH AND THE DAWN books and am now re-reading THE GHOST BRIDE. There’s no shame in not picking up new releases or making progress on the TBR when your life is hectic and your focus is necessarily elsewhere.
This August giveway is dedicated Madcap Retreat Writing Cross Culturally 2018!! It was at WCC that I met Adib Khorram and Natalie C. Parker and I am so excited to have these two books on my own shelf!
Darius Kellner speaks better Klingon than Farsi, and he knows more about Hobbit social cues than Persian ones. He’s a Fractional Persian—half, his mom’s side—and his first-ever trip to Iran is about to change his life.
Adib Khorram’s brilliant debut is for anyone who’s ever felt not good enough—then met a friend who makes them feel so much better than okay.
You may remember that I was part of a book tour for DARIUS THE GREAT IS NOT OKAY and I enjoyed it SO MUCH. I can’t wait for everyone to get a chance to read this amazing book about family and identity.
After her family is killed by corrupt warlord Aric Athair and his bloodthirsty army of Bullets, Caledonia Styx is left to chart her own course on the dangerous and deadly seas. She captains her ship, the Mors Navis, with a crew of girls and women just like her, who have lost their families and homes because of Aric and his men. The crew has one mission: stay alive, and take down Aric’s armed and armored fleet.
Pairing gorgeous prose with pulse-pounding action, Seafire reminds us of the importance of sisterhood and unity in the face of oppression and tyranny.
Natalie is one of the Madcap Retreats organizers and all-around amazing person. If you like ladies kicking ass, SEAFIRE should definitely be on your must-read lists!
I hope you all have amazing things planned as summer starts to come to a close! See you next time! Dax
